GÎTE MAUD

 LOCATION

This delightful gîte (cottage), part of a terrace of three, is set in a quiet location well off the main road, surrounded by a large garden. It is traditionally built from local stone and located just outside the village of Bonnemain in north-east Brittany. St. Malo, The Emerald Coast and Le Mont St. Michel are approximately 18 miles north and Rennes, the capital of Brittany, is about 20 miles south. Dol-de-Bretagne, which is 4 miles away, has an impressive cathedral and excellent shopping facilities.

SIGHTSEEING AND LEISURE

Close to the Normandy border, this is an interesting area; there are numerous sightseeing opportunities within a short drive, including the fortress towns of Fougères and Vitré, and picturesque Dinan as well as the places mentioned above. There is also a fine stretch of coast west of St. Malo with many popular sandy beaches and secluded coves.

Nearby leisure facilities include tennis courts in Bonnemain, golf courses at Le Tronchet and Les Ormes and swimming at Combourg. For the gourmet, there are a number of superb restaurants in the area and Cancale, on the coast near St. Malo, is famous for its seafood and oysters.

There is a comprehensive information folder in the gîte describing many visits and activities including those mentioned above. It also provides details, comments and prices of nearby restaurants.

ACCOMMODATION

Gîte "Maud" comprises one double bedroom, one twin room, and a small room with children's bed and cot. There is a bathroom and separate toilet. The living area has a large sitting/dining room with fully fitted kitchenette (including washing machine). There is a large traditional stone fire place.
